The Institute's Chess Camp which was held July 31 to August 4, was well received. Twenty-five campers, ranging in strength from Master to 1200, learned from GMs Suat Atalik and Alex Yermolinsky, IM Guillermo Rey and NMs Robert Haines and Anthony Corrales.
Classes were held each day from 9 AM to 5 PM and covered a wide variety of material. The last day of camp, a handicapped Blitz tournament was held. Expert Elliot Temple won the event, followed by Gary Huang and Michael Pearson. The normal time control of five minutes was used, but for every 200 rating points difference players had to give a one minute handicap.
